Welcome to Modern Alternative Kitchen!
My name is Jill, and I am the editor here at Modern Alternative Kitchen. I have been on a real food journey since the summer of 2011 and am passionate about food. I am a Jesus-loving, Bible-reading, kombucha-brewing, raw milk–drinking, real food–eating gal. I was born and raised in the Midwest, but am currently living a non-mainstream life in Seattle with my husband Graham and our Boston terrier Java. We are expecting our first child in August 2013!
I have been a long-time reader of Modern Alternative Mama, and when they posted an opening for the editor position of a new real-food website, I threw my hat in the ring and by God’s grace was selected! I feel extremely blessed to be able to educate others about real food, which is one of my main passions in life.
In addition, I enjoy cooking, paper crafting, serving my church, reading, and attempting to sew, but I am still trying to hone those skills! I have spent ten years working with children in various settings, from neonatal intensive care units to crisis facilities, and am particularly passionate about early childhood development, as well as prenatal and infant nutrition.
